Pakistan Summons Afghan Chargé d’Affaires Over Karachi Rangers Camp Attack

Jarida Report

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Monday said it had summoned the Afghan chargé d’affaires and issued a strong demarche over the recent terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers camp in Karachi.

MoFA spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the demarche was delivered following Saturday’s attack, in which three Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) personnel were martyred and four others injured after militants targeted the camp.

According to the military’s media wing, the attack was carried out by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which it described as an Indian proxy. Security forces killed three attackers and captured a fourth suspect, identified as an Afghan national, in an injured condition.

Andrabi said Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, also conveyed a similar demarche to the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He said the protest was issued because Afghan nationals, including one apprehended alive, had participated in the attack, which Pakistan said demonstrated that Afghan soil and Afghan nationals continue to be used to orchestrate terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
