Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv Oblast killed a pregnant woman and two other people, Ukrainian officials said on Tuesday, while authorities in Russian-annexed Crimea reported efforts to repel drone attacks.
The latest strikes came amid a wave of large-scale Russian aerial attacks on Ukraine in recent weeks, as Kyiv has stepped up long-range drone operations targeting Russian oil infrastructure, contributing to fuel shortages in Crimea and other areas.
Late on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had held a “positive” telephone conversation with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Zelensky said he welcomed their readiness to work actively toward reaching a settlement to the war in the coming weeks.
