Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura loading terminal and refinery site was struck by an unidentified projectile on Wednesday, making it the second assault on the crucial oil installation in just 48 hours. Initial assessments suggest that it was a drone attack. The Saudi Defence Ministry said on the US-owned social media platform X that no damage was reported. Saudi authorities have launched an investigation to determine the nature of the projectile and identify those responsible for the attack/escalation.
Ras Tanura is one of the world’s largest oil stabilization and refining hubs, serving as a cornerstone of global energy security. Located on the Persian Gulf, it handles a significant portion of Saudi Arabia’s crude exports.
