PTI seeks clarification on Imran Khan’s health amid rising rumours

Jarida Report

The PTI has demanded that the government issue a clear statement on jailed party founder Imran Khan’s health, following a surge of unverified social media rumours — some amplified by Indian and Afghan media — claiming he is unwell or missing. The party said Imran’s sisters have repeatedly been denied meetings at Adiala jail, prompting them to stage sit-ins and question his whereabouts. PTI urged authorities to immediately arrange a family meeting and provide a transparent update on his health, security and current status, warning that the nation “will not tolerate any uncertainty” about its leader.

The party also called for an investigation into the origin of the rumours and vowed to take legal and political steps to counter misinformation. PTI leader Meher Bano Qureshi echoed concerns, saying the government must reassure the public and allow Imran’s sisters, lawyers and party members to see him. Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif claimed Imran has access to a TV, outside food and exercise equipment in jail — privileges he contrasted with his own time in prison. Imran, 73, has been imprisoned since August 2023 in a £190m corruption case and faces additional charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
