During a meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the IMF, the prime minister of Pakistan stated that Pakistan was steadily meeting its International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme commitments, but pleaded the lender to take into account the recent flood damage in their upcoming review for the country.
This took place on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The massive flooding in the country has struck both the rural agricultural heart and industrial centre for the first time in decades, causing billions of dollars in damage while there being a shortage, exports and an overall fragile economic recovery.
