Following a dead shot on September 19, 2025, Israel has permanently shuttered the Allenby Bridge crossing, which is the largest entry point between the West Bank and Jordan.Officials indicated that a truck operator transporting humanitarian assistance fired at the checkpoint and killed two Israeli soldiers before being subdued.
The Jordon River crossing in the north is also closed, but the Rabin crossing in the south is open to workers only. The attack has not so far been claimed by any group and continues to pose a risk to the mobility of the region and delivery of aid. The move has caused alarm among Palestinians and the Jordanian authorities who use the route as an important economic and humanitarian point of contact.
