Washington and Beijing have agreed on a framework that mandates Tik Tok to shift towards controlled ownership by the U.S., softening years of political and security apprehensions. The deal will be concluded in a planned call between President Trump and President Xi Jinping on Friday. The acquisition comes after months of lobbying by the American legislators who demonstrated fears of insecurity of data and national security threats posed by the Chinese ownership of the app.
Although the structure remains the subject of negotiation, the officials claim that the agreement represents a significant move towards ending the protracted conflict that has jeopardised future of TikTok in the United States.
