Amnesty Urges CM Bugti to Free Detained Baloch Activists

Jarida Report

Amnesty International has issued an urgent appeal to Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, demanding the immediate release of several Baloch activists, including Mahrang Baloch, Sammi Deen Baloch, and Bebarg Zehri. The group condemned the arrests as part of a broader crackdown on peaceful protests and human rights activism. It criticized the use of multiple FIRs, terrorism charges, and preventive detentions under the Maintenance of Public Order law. Amnesty also raised concerns about the health of detainees, especially disabled activist Bebarg Zehri, who is reportedly being denied medical care. The organization called for accountability and an independent investigation into police conduct during the March 21 protests.
