Iran has claimed that 12 of its journalists and media workers were killed in recent Israeli airstrikes during a 12-day conflict that began on June 13. According to Iran’s Basij media wing, the journalists were “deliberately targeted” as part of an attempt to silence the voices of the so-called Resistance Front.
Among the victims were staff from Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB, including news editor Nima Rajabpour and secretary Masoumeh Azimi, who were reportedly killed when a strike hit their studio mid-broadcast.
Iran has accused Israel of trying to destroy its media infrastructure. The deaths have sparked renewed concern over the safety of journalists in war zones, especially in increasingly digital and information-driven conflicts.
