Senate Panel Split Over Introducing Reproductive Health Education in Schools

The Senate Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training debated PPP Senator Quratulain Marri’s bill to integrate age-appropriate reproductive health education into school curricula, noting the rise of misinformation among students online  . Supporters argue it’s essential for guiding youth—especially before marriage—to curb internet misinformation and abuse, while opponents like Senators Kamran Murtaza, Gurdeep Singh, and others oppose inclusion in lower grades on cultural and religious grounds  . Some proposed amendments include parental consent and raising the entry age to 13 or 16. The bill was deferred pending further input from education, health and religious stakeholders
