Death Toll from Texas Floods Hits at Least 78

Jarida Report

Severe flash floods across Central Texas, triggered by torrential rains beginning July 4, have claimed at least 78 lives, including 28 children, with most fatalities in Kerr County near Camp Mystic. The Guadalupe River surged dramatically—up to 26 feet in 45 minutes—sweeping away cabins and isolating campers and staff. Rescue teams have saved over 850 people, yet dozens remain missing. Authorities warn saturated ground and new rain could worsen conditions. President Trump has declared a major disaster and plans to visit amid criticism of cutbacks to early-warning systems.
