A search operation has begun following the fall of 46‑year‑old Czech mountaineer Klára Kolouchová, an esteemed climber and the first Czech woman to summit Everest, K2, and Kangchenjunga. She slipped on a rocky section between Camp I and Camp II during her descent early Thursday, after abandoning the summit bid due to health issues at Camp IV. The Pakistan Army has deployed helicopters alongside ground teams and expedition members, including her family, to locate and retrieve her body. Kolouchová’s death marks a somber reminder of the perils of scaling Nanga Parbat.
