Nine JI town chairmen petition SHC against prolonged loadshedding

Jarida Report

Nine Jamaat‑i‑Islami town chairmen from Karachi have filed a petition in the Sindh High Court challenging K‑Electric’s prolonged loadshedding during the recent heatwave. Representing towns including New Karachi, Liaquatabad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, and Landhi, they argue that KE’s Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses policy, which justifies outages based on area-wise losses, is unlawful. They noted that NEPRA previously deemed this policy illegal in April 2024 and fined KE ₹50 million. The petition seeks the court’s declaration of KE’s policy as unconstitutional and demands equitable and uninterrupted power supply.
