Islamabad High Court Acquits Four PTI Supporters Over May 9 Riots Sentences

On July 3, 2025, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) overturned 10‑year sentences handed to four Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI) activists—Mira Khan, Muhammad Akram, Shahzeb, and Sohail Khan—convicted of attacking a police station during the May 9, 2023 riots following Imran Khan’s arrest. The acquittal rested on the prosecution’s failure to place them at the scene, with witness testimony lacking mention of their presence  . The initial convictions included multiple charges—terrorism, arson, attempted murder—imposing concurrent sentences ranging from several months to a decade
