Muntaha Zahra, a resident of block 8 had left her home to get sugar from a nearby shop but never returned. Hours later her body was discovered in a room above the shop she visited.
Her family members said that her mother was preparing tea at home for which she sent Muntaha to the store to get sugar. When hours passed by and she did not return, her family and locals of the area began searching. The search proved to be unsuccessful.
Upon receiving the report, police immediately took the case and actively went through CCTV footage from the area which showed the vicitm entering the shop but never exiting. Working on this lead, they searched the shop and the rooms above it and found the child’s body.
Police Officials stated that the initial investigations revealed that an employee of the store allegedly attempted to assault the girl and when she resisted the suspect killed her. Evidence was obtained from the scene and the CCTV footage helped track down the suspects.
City Police Station registered a case based on complaint made by the father naming four individuals, including the prime suspect, Arsalan. Acording to the First Information Report (FIR) Arsalan had previously been involved in a dispute with Muntaha’s father and threatened to make him “rememeber the consequences for the rest of his life” the rape and murder came after those threats.
