In Pakpattan, police have arrested the administrator of a WhatsApp group after an offensive post targeting Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was shared within the group. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the post contained derogatory language about the Chief Minister. The group admin is accused of allowing the post to remain visible to members, thereby “spreading chaos among the public.” Authorities have charged the individuals involved under Section 20 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca) and Section 509 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Pakpattan District Police Officer Javed Chaddar confirmed the arrest, noting it as the first case registered under Peca in the district. He stated that further investigations are ongoing to apprehend the individual who originally uploaded the post.
