A new collaboration between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan was announced on September 15, 2025, to promote the adoption of digital payments and assist the realisation of the vision of a cashless economy in Pakistan.
The Minister of State of Financial Affairs of UAE, Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, had a meeting with the Minister of State Finance of Pakistan, Bilal Azhar Kayani, to discuss the recent work and establish a framework of further technical and regulatory cooperation. Discussions were based on modernization of the transaction systems, high-efficiency of cross-border payments, and the best practices in the experience of the UAE.
The two governments responded by having joint working groups to accelerate the implementation of policies and the upgrades of digital infrastructure.
