TikToker Kashif Zameer was arrested by Punjab police on April 18, 2025, for allegedly disrespecting the police uniform. The controversy began when Zameer posted a TikTok video showing him handing a tray of money to a man in police uniform at a wedding. The individual was identified as constable Khurram Shahzad. Following an inquiry, Shahzad was charged under Section 115 of the Police Order 2002 for being absent from duty.
In response, Zameer shared another video claiming that the original footage was altered using AI to depict Shahzad in uniform. He asserted that the man was his personal guard, not a police officer, and suggested that his enemies had manipulated the video because of his support for YouTuber Rajab Butt. However, investigations confirmed that the original video was genuine, and Zameer’s actions were deemed to have misrepresented the situation.
The FIR against Zameer invoked Sections 13 (electronic forgery) and 26 (spoofing) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, as well as Sections 34 and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah labeled the case as “high profile” and summoned the investigation officer for further proceedings.
In an Instagram video, Zameer expressed his respect for the Punjab Police and announced his intention to challenge the case in the High Court.
