On May 19, 2025, Pakistan’s military announced the elimination of three militants affiliated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), which authorities describe as an “Indian proxy” group. The operations took place over the weekend in Balochistan’s Awaran and Kech districts.
In the first operation in Awaran’s Gishkur area, security forces engaged and killed a militant identified as Younas, while injuring two others. The second operation in Turbat City resulted in the deaths of two militants: Sabr Ullah, a ring leader, and Amjad alias Bichoo. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from both sites.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the militants were involved in attacks against law enforcement and the targeted killings of civilians. President Asif Ali Zardari commended the security forces, emphasizing the nation’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism.
These operations follow a recent uptick in militant activities in Balochistan, including a deadly IED attack in Mach earlier this month that killed seven soldiers. Pakistan has consistently accused India of supporting insurgent groups like the BLF and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) to destabilize the region.
