Three Dead, Eight Injured as Bus Overturns in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Hadeed

On the morning of May 2, 2025, a tragic accident occurred in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Hadeed area when a passenger bus overturned, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to eight others. The incident took place around 6:30 AM on Link Road Kathore near Samandari Baba, as the bus, bearing registration number LES-1244, veered off the roadway and overturned. According to Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Police Pir Mohammed Shah, preliminary investigations suggest that the driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the accident without any collision with another vehicle. The deceased have been identified as Abdul Ghafoor (59), Ghulam Fareed (25), and Kausar Saeed (35). Their bodies were transported to Jinnah Hospital Karachi via Chhipa Ambulance Service. Approximately 15 to 20 passengers sustained injuries in the crash. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about driver fatigue and road safety in Karachi, where heavy vehicle accidents have been on the rise. In response, the city administration has extended a daytime ban on heavy vehicles for an additional two months to mitigate such occurrences.
