The Thailand government has summoned the Iranian ambassador after an attack on a Thai-flagged vessel near the Strait of Hormuz on March 11.
Authorities in Bangkok said that three crew members remain missing after the incident. They were believed to be on duty in the ship’s engine room when a fire broke out following an explosion. Twenty other crew members were rescued after evacuating to lifeboats, CNNreports.
The vessel, the bulk carrier Mayuree Naree, is among six ships reportedly struck by projectiles near the strategic shipping lane over the past two days, highlighting escalating risks to maritime traffic in the region.
