The T20 World Cup warm-up match between Pakistan and Ireland was abandoned due to persistent rain in Colombo, organisers confirmed on Monday.
The fixture, scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka’s capital, could not even reach the toss stage as heavy rainfall left the ground unfit for play. Large portions of the outfield remained waterlogged following early morning showers, making any start impossible. Match officials carried out multiple inspections but conditions did not improve sufficiently, leading to the decision to call off the contest without a ball being bowled. The wet outfield and standing water across several areas of the ground ruled out any chance of play throughout the day.
