South African Spirit Shines at Seoul’s Africa Festival

Jarida Report

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul was brought to life at the 8th Seoul Africa Festival that focuses on the culture of South Africa through music, dance, film, and fashion. The one-day event that combined traditional performances and contemporary art and design activities attracted over 2,000 visitors. One of the highlights also included the joint runway which matched the South African clothing with the modern Korean one, which received a great deal of attention.

The organizers claimed that the festival enhances cultural diplomacy and strengthens the people-to people relations between Korea and the African countries. Food stands were selling South African cuisine, and there were panel discussions on cultural exchange. The festival has become one of the most colorful Seoul-based yearly showcases of the creative industries of Africa.
