Jarida Report

The Sindh government has suspended Ishaque Khuhro, Director General of the Sindh Building and Control Authority (SBCA), for “misconduct and inefficiency” following the collapse of a five-storey building in Lyari that killed 27 people. Despite being declared uninhabitable and prior notices issued since 2023, enforcement failed. A fact-finding committee led by the Karachi Commissioner will report soon. Additional SBCA officials involved have also been suspended, and compensation of Rs1 million per deceased family has been announced. Major opposition parties are demanding manslaughter charges.
