Seychelles Begins Election as President Seeks New Mandate

Jarida Report

The Seychelles presidential and parliamentary elections were voted on Thursday, and this
contest will surely lead to a revision of the political history of the archipelago. In 2020, Wavel
Ramkalawan assumed the presidency and is now seeking reelection on a platform of further economic rebuilding and reconciliation.

His primary opponent Patrick Herminie is attracting crowds by promising to address corruption, and to raise social service and reduce the cost of living. The election would last a few days and the outcome would be announced by Sunday.Analysts observe that this election will be a test of how the people believe Ramkalawan to be economically, particularly in the tourism-based country that has suffered the most due to the pandemic.
