Saint Levant Criticizes Israeli Involvement in Palestine’s First Oscar Win

Jarida Report

Palestinian singer Saint Levant expressed disappointment over the Oscar win of the Israeli-Palestinian documentary No Other Land, criticizing the involvement of Israelis in the project. The film portrays the collaboration between Palestinian activist Basel Adra and Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, highlighting the forced displacement in Masafer Yatta. Saint Levant argued that such joint ventures suggest that liberation can only be achieved alongside oppressors, a notion he equates to “normalisation.” He reflected on his past participation in similar initiatives, acknowledging that they were counterproductive to genuine liberation efforts.
