British comedian and actor Russell Brand appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on May 2, 2025, facing five serious sexual offense charges involving four women. The alleged incidents occurred between 1999 and 2005 in Bournemouth and Westminster.
Brand, 49, is charged with two counts of rape, one count of oral rape, one count of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault. These charges stem from a police investigation initiated after a 2023 documentary aired by Channel 4 and The Sunday Times. During the brief court hearing, Brand confirmed his identity and was granted conditional bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on May 30 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
In a video statement on social media, Brand denied all allegations, asserting that he has never engaged in non-consensual activity. He acknowledged past struggles with addiction but emphasized his intent to defend himself in court.
