Rubio Travels to Saudi Arabia for Talks on Ukraine War

Jarida Report

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia from March 10 to 12 for discussions aimed at advancing President Donald Trump’s objective of ending the Russia-Ukraine war.  During his stay in Jeddah, Rubio will engage with Ukrainian officials and meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

This diplomatic effort follows a recent strain in U.S.-Ukraine relations. On February 28, President Trump suspended military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine after a contentious meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. The suspension was attributed to disagreements over Ukraine’s allocation of its mineral resources to the U.S. in exchange for previous assistance.

In response, President Zelensky expressed willingness to negotiate and sent a conciliatory letter to President Trump, aiming to restore the partnership.  The upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia are anticipated to address these issues and explore potential resolutions to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, Secretary Rubio will attend the Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers’ meeting in Quebec, Canada, from March 12 to 14. The agenda includes discussions on global security, strategic cooperation, and efforts to stabilize international relations.
