Renowned poet and religious scholar Syed Salman Gilani passed away in Lahore on Saturday at the age of 74 after a prolonged illness.
Family sources said that Gilani had been undergoing treatment at Sheikh Zayed Hospital for some time. He held a distinguished place in religious and literary circles and was widely respected for his contributions to devotional and satirical poetry.
A passionate advocate of the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat movement, Gilani was the son of noted religious leader Syed Amin Gilani. Following in his father’s footsteps, he dedicated much of his work to themes related to Islam, the praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and social issues, expressing them in a distinctive and engaging style.
