Railway traffic in Khairpur, Sindh, resumed after nationalist activists, led by Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (Bashir) vice-chairman Amjad Mahesar, blocked a track for approximately three hours. The protest was in opposition to the federal government’s $3.3 billion Green Pakistan Initiative, which plans to construct six canals on the Indus River. The Sindh Assembly has unanimously opposed the project, and the Sindh High Court has issued a restraining order halting its work pending resolution through dialogue
