Putin Proposes Meeting with Trump to Discuss Ukraine Conflict and Energy Prices

Jarida Report

Russian President Vladimir Putin has suggested a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump to address the ongoing war in Ukraine and issues related to energy prices. Putin emphasized the need for Western nations to encourage Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to revoke a 2022 decree that prohibits negotiations with Russia, viewing it as a barrier to meaningful peace talks. He described his relationship with Trump as “pragmatic and trusting” and expressed readiness to engage in discussions on various topics, including arms control and energy, given the significant roles both nations play in global oil production and consumption. Putin also noted that extreme fluctuations in oil prices are detrimental to both countries and highlighted the importance of dialogue in stabilizing the situation.
