PTI Leaders Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul Granted Bail Amid Disqualification Row

Jarida Report

The Peshawar High Court has granted protective bail until August 11 to PTI leaders Shibli Faraz and Zartaj Gul Wazir, who were sentenced over the May 9 riots and subsequently disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Both leaders, along with Omar Ayub, have filed petitions challenging the ECP’s order, calling it “unconstitutional” as no reference was sent by the National Assembly speaker. The ECP disqualified several PTI lawmakers, including Sunni Ittehad Council chief Hamid Raza, after anti-terrorism courts handed down prison sentences for their alleged roles in violent protests following Imran Khan’s arrest in 2023.
