PSX Soars to Record High on Ceasefire and IMF Loan Boost

Jarida Report

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) experienced a historic rally during the week ending May 17, 2025, with the KSE-100 Index surging by 12,474 points to close at 119,649—an 11.64% weekly gain. This remarkable performance was primarily driven by a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Pakistan and India on May 10, easing geopolitical tensions and boosting investor confidence. Additionally, the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) approval of a $1 billion loan tranche and an extra $1.4 billion under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility further fueled market optimism. Analysts now project the KSE-100 Index could reach 165,215 points by December.
