Prolonged Power Outage Disrupts Multiple Rawalpindi Neighborhoods

On the night of May 29, 2025, several areas in Rawalpindi, including Faisal Colony, Shah Khalid Colony, Gulzar-i-Quaid, Rewat, Sadiqabad, Chaklala Scheme-III, and Adiala Road, experienced power outages lasting over eight hours due to rain and strong winds. Residents reported difficulties in lodging complaints, as helplines went unanswered. The prolonged outage led to hardships such as reliance on candles after UPS batteries depleted and damage to appliances from low voltage. In response, IESCO’s chief executive issued warnings to officials responsible for delayed restorations and unresponsive complaint centers.
