President, PM Call for Responsible Parenthood to Tackle Population Growth

Jarida Report

On World Population Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged Pakistanis to embrace responsible parenthood and better family planning. With the population now over 242 million—and a majority under 30—they warned that unchecked growth could strain national resources and slow progress.

The president stressed the need for a “balanced approach,” calling for women’s education, accessible healthcare, and wider family planning services, especially in rural areas. The prime minister echoed this, urging action at both policy and grassroots levels.

Both leaders emphasized that tackling population growth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about improving lives, securing the future, and ensuring sustainable development for the next generation.
