Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed gratitude to the World Bank for its commitment to invest $20 billion in Pakistan over the next decade. This funding, part of the Country Partnership Framework (CPF), aims to support inclusive and sustainable development, focusing on building human capital and fostering private sector growth. During a ceremony in Islamabad, PM Sharif highlighted the strong relationship between Pakistan and the World Bank, noting the bank’s support for various projects, including hydropower generation and reforms in organizations like the Federal Board of Revenue. He emphasized that the World Bank’s faith in Pakistan’s system, which is undergoing significant structural changes, is a positive message for the nation. The Prime Minister also mentioned the rapid digitization of the Federal Board of Revenue and the implementation of a pilot project for faceless interactions between importers and customs officials, aiming to enhance economic recoveries and reduce corruption.
