PM Shehbaz Sharif: Trillions in Mineral Deposits Could Free Pakistan from IMF Dependency

Jarida Report

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that harnessing Pakistan’s vast mineral resources, estimated to be worth trillions of dollars, could enable the country to move beyond reliance on institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He highlighted the importance of processing minerals domestically to add value before export, ensuring that investors bring technology and expertise to develop the sector.

The government is actively promoting investment in the mining sector, with initiatives such as the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum aiming to attract foreign investors to exploit these resources responsibly. By focusing on sustainable development and technological advancement, Pakistan seeks to transform its mineral wealth into economic prosperity, reducing dependence on external financial support.
