PM Shehbaz Lays Foundation for Underpass Linking Murree Road to Srinagar Highway

Jarida Report

On April 17, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone for a new underpass connecting Murree Road to Srinagar Highway in Islamabad. This infrastructure project aims to create a signal-free corridor from Islamabad International Airport to Muzaffarabad, enhancing traffic flow and reducing congestion. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is executing the project as an extension of the Serena Interchange initiative, with an estimated cost of Rs900 million and a targeted completion time of 60 days. The underpass is expected to benefit daily commuters from Murree, Bhara Kahu, and surrounding areas by providing a direct route to Srinagar Highway, bypassing the often congested Kashmir Chowk roundabout .
