On May 27, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Azerbaijan’s Lachin District to attend the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit. This visit is part of his four-nation tour, which began on May 25, encompassing Türkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, and concluding in Tajikistan on May 30.Â
Upon arrival, PM Shehbaz was received by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin, and other diplomatic staff. The summit will feature discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Additionally, PM Shehbaz is scheduled for a bilateral meeting with President Aliyev.Â
The primary focus of the summit is to strengthen trilateral cooperation among the three nations. PM Shehbaz’s visit also serves to express gratitude for the support extended by these countries during Pakistan’s recent military confrontation with India. Earlier, during his visit to Tehran, PM Shehbaz expressed willingness to engage in dialogue with India to resolve ongoing disputes, including the Kashmir issue and water security.Â
The delegation accompanying PM Shehbaz includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.Â
In the final leg of his tour, PM Shehbaz is set to attend the International Conference on Glaciers in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on May 29 and 30.Â
