Just days ahead of 78th Independence Day of Pakistan and India on 14th and 15th of August, respectively, Indian busker and Instagram sensation Vish marked the occasion on the street of London by singing patriotic songs this weekend.

The Piccadilly Circus area of London was decorated with flags of Pakistan, India and the United Kingdom, as Vish continued to draw in crowds from all over the city using his soulful voice. Citizens from both sides of the border got together, singing along to Vishal’s patriotic tunes while waving flags in a symbolic demonstration of unity and pride.

Vish had announced the event on his social media platform just a few days ago, urging the people to attend the Independence Day performance on August 11 wearing white.

Talking to Jarida Today, Vish said this marked his third consecutive celebration of the Independence Day in London’s iconic Piccadilly Circus. “It’s especially important because it brings together the Pakistani and Indian communities in the UK to commemorate this special occasion with unity and shared respect.”

He said that the gathering served as a symbol of harmony and a testament to the enduring bonds between the people from both nations, as they honored and celebrated their shared histories and cultures with their brothers and sisters back home.

Talking about the event, Vish said he performed a selection of Indian hits, aiming to create a lively and engaging singalong atmosphere that would encourage everyone to join in the celebrations. “I want to bring people together through music,” he said. “I want to foster a spirit of friendship and joy, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan and India.”

Additionally, he said the audience were encouraged to wave their flags during the celebrations to not only pay tribute to their brothers and sisters back in Pakistan and India but also to emphasize the connections that bind them despite their geographical distance. He said the gathering was also arranged to acknowledge the shared dreams and aspirations of our communities. “Overall, this celebration at Piccadilly Circus is more than just an event. It is a heartfelt expression of community, cultural pride, and unity, reflecting the spirit of togetherness that Independence Day represents,” he added.

Pakistan and India are set to celebrate their 78th Independence Day on 14th and 15th of August, respectively, marking the 1947 partition of the Indian Subcontinent. As the third generation of Pakistan and India celebrate this day, they are reminded that despite their differences, they shared a common bond. Both nations are now proud of the heritage and cultures, and instead of focusing on dissimilarities they are finding a common ground where they could unite in their quest for freedom and prosperity. The streets of London may seem like an unusual place to celebrate the upcoming Independence Day, but for the busker and thousands of Pakistanis and Indians who gathered there to celebrate the day with him, it was a reminder of the fact that harmony can be found even in the most unexpected places.
