On April 12, 2025, eight Pakistani nationals were tragically killed in Mehrestan County, located in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province. According to reports, unknown armed men entered a workshop, tied up the workers, and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The Pakistani Foreign Office condemned the attack as “inhumane and cowardly” and called for Iran’s full cooperation in investigating the incident and repatriating the victims’ remains. Pakistani officials in Iran are in constant contact with Iranian authorities to ensure a comprehensive investigation and timely repatriation.
Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the banned Balochistan National Army (BNA), with reports also indicating that the militant group Jaishul Adl claimed responsibility.
This incident follows a similar attack on January 27, 2024, where nine Pakistani workers were killed in Saravan, Sistan-Baluchestan province, highlighting ongoing security concerns in the region.
