Over 4,000 Police Officers Deployed for Eid Security in Peshawar

Jarida Report

In preparation for Eidul Azha, the Peshawar police have implemented a comprehensive security and traffic management plan, deploying over 4,000 officers across the city. All police leaves have been canceled to ensure full staffing during the holiday period. Enhanced patrols by the Ababeel Squad, City Patrol Force, and traffic police are in effect, with increased surveillance at city entry and exit points. Additional personnel, including women officers and plainclothes units, are stationed in key markets to monitor for suspicious activities. Security measures have also been intensified at cattle markets, inns, and hotels. Prior to Eid, targeted search and strike operations were conducted to preempt potential threats. Approximately 1,000 traffic police officers are assigned to maintain smooth traffic flow during the festivities.

Separately, officials at Bacha Khan International Airport have urged the public to refrain from disposing of sacrificial animal waste near the airport, as it attracts birds and increases the risk of bird strikes, potentially leading to air accidents. The Civil Aviation Authority, in collaboration with local authorities, has initiated awareness campaigns, including pamphlet distribution and social media messaging, to educate residents on the dangers of improper waste disposal near the airport.
