Over 14 Million Lives Could Be Lost by 2030 Due to US Foreign Aid Cuts, Study Warns

Jarida Report

A new Lancet study warns that steep cuts to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) could lead to over 14 million additional deaths by 2030, including 4.5 million children under five  . Between 2001–2021, USAID‑funded programs saved an estimated 91 million lives, significantly reducing mortality from HIV/AIDS, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases  . The report emphasizes that without reversing these cuts—which amount to over 80% of programs eliminated—progress in global health in low‑ and middle‑income countries is at serious risk.
