Opposition Accuses Govt of Forcing Islamabad Hotel to Cancel Conference

Jarida Report

Pakistan’s opposition alliance, comprising the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and other parties, accused the government of pressuring a hotel in Islamabad to revoke permission for the second day of their conference. The event, meant to discuss alleged electoral rigging, was disrupted when the hotel management cited “unavoidable circumstances” for the cancellation. Opposition leaders condemned the move as an attack on democracy and free speech, while government officials denied involvement. The incident has further escalated political tensions in the country.
