Sindh’s Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has announced that no action will be taken against vehicles with old number plates until August 14. The decision comes after public backlash and political criticism over the abrupt enforcement of the new Ajrak-themed plates. Chawla urged vehicle owners to use this grace period to get the new plates, which cost Rs 2,450 for cars and Rs 1,850 for motorcycles. Political parties, including Jamaat-i-Islami and MQM-P, have raised concerns about the costs and unavailability of plates, calling the enforcement premature.
