New Snake Species Named After Dr. Jane Goodall

Jarida Report

A newly discovered snake species in Peru has been named after legendary conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall. The species, Tachymenoides goodallae — also called “Goodall’s Slender Snake” — was identified by a team of herpetologists led by Dr. Edgar Lehr from Illinois Wesleyan University.

The scientists said they chose the name to honor Dr. Goodall’s lifelong dedication to science and conservation, noting that her work continues to inspire people to protect biodiversity around the world.
