This initiative aims to raise £1 million to provide safe training facilities, educational opportunities, and growth pathways for refugees. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has also pledged support, emphasizing the importance of uniting communities through cricket.
In January 2025, Afghan women cricketers, who fled Afghanistan following the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, played their first match in Australia. This event marked a significant milestone for the team, highlighting their resilience and determination to continue their cricketing careers despite the challenges they face.Â
