Massive landslide occurred in one of the remote villages in the Jebel Marra region of Sudan on 3 September as a result of the heavy downpour. Organizations like the United Nations, Doctors Without Borders, and local groups, are documenting the loss of over 1000 lives in a territory already volatile because of war and restricted availability. The United Nations organisation confirmed at least 370 deaths. Moreover, Doctors Without Borders reported that they were still having difficulties with the rescue operations due to the isolation of the village. The tragedy underscores the lethal combination of climatic catastrophes and ineffective infrastructures in war torn regions.
