Legendary Bollywood Playback Singer Asha Bhosle Dies Aged 92

Legendary Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle has died at the age of 92, marking the end of an era in Bollywood music. Her son confirmed that Bhosle died in Mumbai after being admitted to hospital following a heart attack. With a career spanning more than eight decades and over 12,000 recorded songs, she became one of the most recognisable voices in Indian cinema.

Her repertoire included celebrated tracks such as “Dum Maro Dum”, “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja” and “Mehndi Hai Rachnewali”, alongside soundtracks for films including Teesri Manzil, Caravan, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Ijaazat, Saagar and Umrao Jaan.

Her work earned international recognition, including the tribute song Brimful of Asha and collaborations with artists such as Boy George.
