KP Government Introduces First-Ever Bridge Design Code

Jarida Report

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has introduced the province’s first Bridge Design Code, developed by the Department of Communications and Works and approved by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. This code establishes minimum standards for the construction, repair, and design of bridges, aligning with internationally recognized principles and considering the province’s unique climatic and geological conditions. Compliance with this code is now mandatory for all future bridge projects in KP, with forthcoming legislation to provide it legal status. This initiative aims to enhance bridge resilience against natural disasters and prevent structural failures.
